You may get the dentist to give u an antibiotic to stop infection for the time being without touching the tooth yet. Root canal is very painful they have to give you something for the pain, as fare i know they can give you a puffing gas but i do not know if is strong enough to keep the pain down, you may ask the dentist they may have something different.
